hey Scottie. I cant figure out how the whole thingy works, so I be posting my homework here.

Two major ideas during the years leading up to WWII had very good effects on American society. The precedents they set, however, were listlessly negative. These were Isolationism and fascism. Isolationism was the result of WWI. Because we had been in one pointless war in Europe that costed many lives, the U.S decided as a country to stay out of world affairs for a couple of decades. This is apparent in our first reaction to WWII- the Neutrality Act. This can also be seen by U.S reaction to fascism. The U.S never did anything to counter act Fascism unless Fascists had done the same to the U.S. For example, the U.S did not openly attack German Submarines before German submarines openly attacked U.S ships. I think that this is the most honorable way to enter a war. However, once the U.S got involved in WWII for ideals after being attacked, it set a precedent for the cold, Vietnam and Korean wars. I think Isolationism should be in effect until our country is attacked. I do not think that we should get involved in wars unless it is for a friendly country or unless the enemy deals the first blow. I don't personally even believe in an eye for an eye, so I hope at the least our government doesn't start the gouge-fest

Dear Scottie...

To be honest, there has been very little going on in the national level of south Africa. Mozambique has been borderline unstable for the first time in 16 years. This is international because Mozambique has been an African success story to the world for a while now, and it would be altogether discouraging if the vigilante justice riots spiraled out of control over the next few months. Another thing that has been good for all of Africa is Bush's AIDS awareness and treatment plan for Africa, which is projected to save over two million lives. It's nice when our country does something for Africa that suggests our government cares, because more often than not it appears like it doesn't.

Dear scottie...

For my project, I plan on doing the following theme:

Evaluate influence of economic, political, religious, and cultural ideas as human societies move beyond regional, national, or geographic boundaries.

I will be studying the following MCAS standards:

USII.14 Explain the strength of American isolationism after World War I and analyze its impact on U.S. foreign policy.

USII.15 Analyze how German aggression in Europe and Japanese aggression in Asia contributed to the start of World War II and summarize the major battles and events of the war

USII.19 Analyze the sources of Cold War conflict between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.

USII.33 Analyze the course and consequences of America’s recent diplomatic initiatives.

I will use the chapters relating to these themes (forgot my book. Sorry!)
